When the music industry gave way to a bright and dotting Dice Ailes in 2014, a lot of expectations were set in stone, literally, and this was primarily because of the prospect he showed but then again, we recall that his unveiling came from Africa’s biggest record label platform at the time, the Chocolate City Music.
By the year 2016, Dice Ailes had become a conversation point amongst industry circles. He had delivered one of the country’s smash hits “Miracle,” and secured his first big award nomination as rookie artiste of the year on The Headies platform. Miracle was about the fourth music instalment since debuting with “Telephone” and even so, his multi-versed ability was now really beaming through. It was quite unusual to find any newcomer who was rapping, singing and trapping all at the same time, and with successful measure while at it. This made it incredibly hard to put him in a box.
As the Afrobeats sound continued to rife with industry players and their sub-genres, Dice was busy perfecting his genre fusions. As much as his sound was hip-hop, it was also trap, however bodying influences from Afro, R&B, pop, even the Banku sound – and for everytime he performed a titration of these musical elements, we had a music hit in the bag.
For Dice, music has always been the lifestyle, and this is an experience that culminates from his multicultural ties as a Ghanaian and Nigerian. In his words;
“I spent more of my formative years growing up in Nigeria. However, with coming of age and being able to own my choices, I decided that I must reconnect with my Ghanaian roots. Already I had attended high schools in Nigeria and Ghana but it wasn’t until those holiday breaks which I spent away from college in Canada that I really got drawn to the Gold coast. I would travel to the Volta region where my mum is from, visit places, observe the culture and just be inspired to make cool music.”
By the time Dice Ailes released “Otedola” in 2017, he had successfully forged an alliance with his Ghanaian people and culture. This further yielded a Ghanaian remix of the chart-topping hit and also catalyzed a working relationship with music stars Kwesi Arthur, Medikal and Vision DJ just to name a few.
Dice Ailes just knows how to make everything look cool hence his nickname ‘Waterman’. From how his songs sound to how he looks in his music videos and the lifestyle he portrays both on and off social media, this ‘coolness’ has become the focus for what drives and guides his music brand. He says;
“Being exceptional at whatever it is you’re doing will definitely get you noticed. For me, it was the simple fact that I had a good taste in things generally. I never compromised on standard. And with the music I make, I just wanted everyone to aspire for that. I want people to be inspired to dream, to hustle, to wanna own the coolest things and just live the good life.”
It is therefore not surprising that his forthcoming single, Money Dance embodies this idea and he wants to spread this confidence to his fans by giving them his best.
“I feel like I’m done experimenting with the brand and I’m now ready to go. The fans deserve the best of Dice and that’s exactly what they are going to get from now on.”
Dice Ailes has signed with Sony Music Entertainment West Africa and the company has confirmed Friday the 29th as the release date for the new single.

Michael Amofa, popularly known as Incredible Zigi hails from the Eastern Region of Ghana and was born on the 17th of October. Incredible Zigi is one of the main pillars that have highly influenced the youth positively through dance.
Zigi has achieved quite a lot in his career as a dancer; He is the first Ghanaian Dance Artist to ever get featured on several articles including the famous Global Grind twice, booked in other countries such as Nigeria, Rwanda, Russia and UK respectively.
In telling the Black story, Zigi is partnering with Guinness to work with real culture makers from across the continent who demonstrate how Black Shines Brightest in a range of different ways. These individuals will create moments, events and content to be enjoyed by everyone.

Juliet Bawuah Wins African Woman In Sport Award
The Group Head of Sports at Media General (TV3, 3FM, Onua FM, Onua TV, Connect FM, Akoma FM), Juliet Bawuah has won this year’s African Woman in Sport award at the GSport Awards.
Held in South Africa on Tuesday August 31, Juliet beat off competition from South African footballer Ode Fulutudilu and Violet Jubane, a Zimbabwean football administrator.
“Honoured to have won the Imperial African Woman in Sport award at last night’s GSport Awards in South Africa. This is a win for all African women in sport putting in effort to achieve their set goals. Big thanks to the jury and fans who voted @gsport4girls #gsport16 #SheOwnsHerSuccess,” she posted on Twitter.
The GSport Awards was founded in 2006 by South African Cricket Presenter Kass Naidoo to celebrate and promote African women in sport.
This year marked the award’s 16th edition.
The GSport recognition adds to a tall list of awards and nominations Juliet continues to receive. It is coming on the back of her recent nomination in the 2021 EMY Awards Young Achiever of the Year category.
Her other professional recognitions include: Video Short Feature Shortlist and Video Athlete Profile Shortlist, 2020 International Sport Press Association (AIPS) Awards. Previously, in the same scheme in 2019, she was Top Ranked Entrant (Number 1 work in Africa, 7th in the World – Video Short Feature category); Finalist, Sports Journalist of the Year, National Communications Awards (2020, Ghana), Winner, Sports Journalist of the Year, National Communications Awards (2019, Ghana), Winner, Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA), Sports Journalist (2019) and Finalist, Sports Media Pearl Awards, Dubai, UAE, 2015).

BBNaija: Biggie Serves The Ultimate Twist As Jackie B And Jay Paul Emerge Heads Of House
For this week’s Head of House (HoH) challenge, the BBNaija Shine Ya Eye housemates were all gingered to bring their A-game after the triple eviction last Sunday night. In a shocking twist, Big Brother told the housemates that tonight’s HoH challenge and nomination process would be rolled into one.
The male and female to finish the fastest would become the ‘Heads’ of House and will share the lounge as well as receive joint immunity. At the end of the challenge, the other 15 housemates will be put up for possible eviction.
The first challenge required the housemates to drink whatever number they roll on the dice. The second challenge required the housemates to eat eggs soaked in a milky concoction before moving on to the next challenge. For challenge number three, the housemates had to enter the slimy pool and pick two keys, which they dropped in a bucket held by a skeleton. The fourth challenge required them to crawl slowly across a slippery path from one end to another. And for the fifth and final challenge, the housemates used a straw to transfer a reddish concoction into beakers.
Saga had the honour of starting the game, but luck wasn’t on his side as he didn’t find any of the keys. Nini took on the challenge, tried very hard not to puke and ended up without a key. WhiteMoney gave it his best but didn’t find a key as well. At the end of the grueling challenge, Jackie B and Jay Paul emerged winners of the double HoH whilst the rest of the housemates were automatically put up for possible eviction on Sunday, 5 September.
The voting lines opened on Monday at 8pm and will close on Thursday, 2nd September at 9pm.
