Young Ghanaian visual artist, Bright Komla Kpoha who is known for his unique style of putting pen and pencil to paper has earn a nomination in this year’s Ghana Arts and Culture Awards in the ‘Ghanaian Visual Artist of the Year’ category.

The artist who is artistically known as Realpen Pencil has a peculiar way of making arts appealing unlike the conventional approach to drawing, Bright Kpoha ‘Realpen pencil’, dramatize his drawing process, displaying gymnastic, dancing, jumping and other skills to transform his subject onto paper.

Currently, Realpen pencil is the World’s First Gymnastic Artist, this claim was recently endorsed by Google.

About Bright Komla Kpoha

Bright Kpoha, artistically known as Realpen pencil , was born on March 24, 1998 at Akatsi in the Volta region of Ghana but grew up in Lome, Togo, where Realpen pencil lost his parents at the age of two. Realpen pencil, survived through entertaining his peers and adults in his neighborhood.

He Realpen pencil discovered his real talent at the age of seven, when he began drawing people with pens and pencils in a unique style, hence the nickname, ‘Realpen Pencil’.

According to him during the drawing process, Realpen pencil, “I connect my soul, heart, extra-eyes fixed and controllable invisible camera on the subject. I was adjudged the best of the year artist during the 50th independence anniversary celebration of the republic of Togo in 2010.

“I also took part in the National drawing competition in Togo, at the age of twelve , representing the Ecole Marie Auxiliatrice d’Ablogame and was the second best behind a 40 year old man. In 2012, I was invited by the Togolese president, Faure Essonzinna Gnassingbe following a beautiful portrait I made of him. Unfortunately, I could not see the president because he was meeting some foreign visitors.

After impressing the office staff of the president about his talent, but he was asked to redo the president’s portrait to remove red and yellow at the background which was political colors . Disappointed by this the young talented artist declined the second appointment at the presidency and decided to move on.

In 2013, Realpen pencil relocated to Ghana, his birth country with the hope of developing his talent and dream, but still found the ground very hard to break. He pitched camp at the Accra mall, drawing people for survival. He also visits campuses, event centres and other major gatherings where he is always an instant toast of the people.

Realpen pencil has so far drawn the 100 Most influential celebrity woman in the world “Omotola Jalade Ekeinde,MFR” on the sage and became famous 29 March 2017, Sarkodie and some local and international celebrities (actors and actresses, musicians) and many people and still counting.

Kriya Gangiah To Host The 2022 Kyalami 9 Hour

In 2019, Kyalami made a welcome return to the international motorsport calendar as the iconic 9 Hour endurance race returned as part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge series.

The 9 Hour was again held in 2020 notwithstanding the restrictions imposed by the global covid pandemic. The race returns in 2022 (rescheduled from December 2021) as the final round of the 2021 Intercontinental GT Challenge – Powered by Pirelli, having visited Europe (Spa 24 Hour) and the USA (Indianapolis 8 Hour).

The event will be held from the 3rd to the 5th of February 2022 at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit and local radio and television presenter Kriya Gangiah is set to host inserts on the Intercontinental GT Challenge social media pages alongside other industry experts Tasmin Pepper, Ernest Page, Daniel Haynes and Nicole Naude. Kriya will also form part of the live broadcast on SuperSport.

Kriya and the other presenters will give fans an inside look at the major racing event as they show fans what goes on behind the scenes. They will be talking to pit crew, chefs and other industry experts and will even give fans an inside look at what goes down inside the VIP lounges.

On the iconic event returning to South Africa, Kriya says “The Kyalami 9 Hour is one of the most prestigious races in the Intercontinental GT Challenge and the fact that it has come back to South Africa means that it forms part of the series with Europe (in Spa) and the United States (in Indianapolis). Having it in South Africa really shows the progress that South Africa is making as a destination for motorsport.”

She adds that she is thrilled to be a part of such an iconic event. “Being a part of the Kyalami 9 Hour as social media and live broadcast host is such an honour and it’s so great to see not only the international teams, but the South African teams as well, giving their all on the course. I am really proud of how our local team is developing and I can’t wait to give you an inside look at all the action on the IntercontinentalGTChallenge social media pages and on SuperSport.”

The 9 Hour race has a long history at Kyalami with the first race being hosted at the circuit’s inaugural meeting held on the 4th of November 1961. The 9 Hour race was hosted at Kyalami until the mid-1980’s with many races won by Ferrari and Porsche amongst other great racing marques. Drivers contested the 9 Hour from all around the world with race winners including David Piper, Derek Bell and Jacky Ickx.

The return of the race to Kyalami in 2019 has ensured that the mystic and heritage, that made the 9 Hour and international success, continues for a new generation to experience and enjoy.

KiDi, Kuami Eugene To Perform At Indigo At The O₂ In London On March 6

Lynx Entertainment signees, KiDi and Kuami Eugene are spreading their wings as far as their music careers are concerned.

While their songs are making inroads into other music markets the world over, they are not resting on their laurels in their bid to have a physical presence in those areas.

On 6th March 2022, the two Ghanaian music superstars will be performing at the Indigo at the O2 in London.

KiDi and Kuami Eugene are two of Ghana’s illustrious sons in the music industry who have enjoyed critical and commercial success, less than six years into their music careers.

They have quickly established themselves and have found places in the Highlife and Afrobeats genres.

KiDi, who is currently Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ Afrobeats Artiste of the Year has released hugely successful singles such as ‘Odo’, ‘Say Cheese’, ‘Enjoyment’ and the 2021 smash hit ‘Touch It’ which went viral on TikTok and spent several weeks on the UK Afrobeats Chart and the Billboard Global Triller Chart.

Kuami Eugene is a four-time Highlife Artist of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). He also won the ultimate slot (Artiste of the Year) at the 2020 VGMA.

He is known for hit songs such as ‘Angela’, ‘Confusion’, ‘Wish Me Well’, ‘Open Gate’ and is currently enjoying a lot of success with his massive collaborations such as ‘Happy Day’ (with Sarkodie) and ‘Love Nwantiti’ remix (with Ckay and Joeboy).

Kuami and KiDi are also loved for their riveting stagecraft and have rocked a lot of high-profile stages (both home and abroad).
