The sixth season of Nigeria’s biggest music reality show, Nigerian Idol, came to an epic end on Sunday the 11th of July, 2021 in Lagos Nigeria with Kingdom Kroseide emerging as the “Nigerian Idol’’ after months of intense musical contest involving over 3000 hopefuls from across the country, and over 16 million votes recorded at the finale.

Kingdom, Francis, Akunna, Comfort, and Faith Jason were the top 5 from the 11 who made it to the live shows from the audition stages. The competition evolved from the final 5 to the last 2 contestants – Kingdom and Francis – who battled it out on Sunday in a keenly contested affair that saw Kingdom emerge the eventual winner.

The finale night also witnessed performances from some of the biggest acts in Nigeria including Mavin’s newest signee, Ayra Starr who performed her song “Away”; award-winning singer Patoranking who performed his new hit “Celebrate Me”. RnB star, Chike joined Francis Atela on stage for a breathtaking duet of the former’s song, “Roju”. While Kingdom and superstar producer Cobhams Asuquo came together for yet another beautiful performance.

Kingdom’s win further emphasizes his musical talent, which he has displayed from the auditions to the live shows, where he constantly wowed the judges with his flawless performances. Kingdom did just enough at the finale to edge out Francis who has equally been a standout contestant all season.

Reacting to his win, a very emotional Kingdom said,‘’My grandma used to say one day you’ll be very great. And then she died. And I almost gave up. But I want to thank the judges for believing in me and my fellow contestants for pushing me.”

‘Winning Miss Malaika, or simply just participating has changed my outlook on life drastically. One thing I took away from the experience is that in as much as outer beauty is important, the growth that happens inwardly is what will make you stand out, and that is exactly what Miss Malaika gave to me and I believe to other ladies who ever participated’ – reigning queen, Miss Jasmine Djang.

In a little over 80 days from now a new queen takes over from Jasmine Djang. But the journey to that unveil as history would have it has never been easy. From heart breaks to tears and cheers, shouts of joy to acts triggered by sour grapes and more, this pageant has seen it all; and on Saturday 17th July was no exception as more than 200 wanna-be queens thronged Tomreik Hotel in hopes of being a part of Miss Malaika Ghana 2021! 45 ladies made it to the next stage.

Prior to this very first encounter, pageant organizers Charterhouse launched the social media campaign, “Tag A Queen” which saw many Ghanaians post photos of ladies they deemed fit to wear the crown and tagging the various Charterhouse handles with the hashtag, #Malaika21. Wild Cards Revealed! Maria and Pere Survive First BBNaija Shine Ya Eye Live Eviction Show

Ebuka took on the first BBNaija Shine Ya Eye live eviction show Sunday night, but there were no goodbyes – just surprises!

After the ladies and gentlemen of the house settled in last Sunday, Biggie threw in the second twist of the season. He told the housemates that two from among them were Wild Cards and they had a week to figure them out. If they successfully did this, the two Wild Card housemates would be evicted immediately. Failure to do so meant they get to remain in the competition and battle it out for the grand prize.

The housemates investigated, questioned, and tried hard to figure out who they were all week long. The viewers were not left out in the guessing game until Thursday when Biggie revealed that Maria and Pere were the Wild Cards.

During their Diary Room sessions Sunday afternoon, majority of the housemates put forward Liquorose and Jaypaul as their prime suspects, to the amusement of viewers. However, the cat was let out of the bag when Ebuka asked the Wild Cards – Maria and Pere – to reveal themselves. This left the housemates surprised but impressed at how well they concealed their identities.

The game has now shifted gears as both Maria and Pere are officially in the game to win. Ebuka revealed that both of them will have exclusive nomination powers on Monday night, when the housemates exercise their nomination rights for the first time this season. Nominations will begin after the Head of House game scheduled for 6pm.

Abeg is the headline sponsor of Big Brother Naija season 6, and the associate sponsor is Patricia.
