For its maiden edition, the TINA Festival –described by organizers as Ghana’s answer to Glastonbury –will parade as headliners, Sarkodie, Joey B, as well as UK-based acts, Stefflon Don and Lethal Bizzle.

The list of performers was unveiled at a press soiree days ago at the premises of music label, BBNZ Live, Accra, where the full itinerary of activities was also announced.

Hosted by Afrobeats pioneer Fuse ODG, the TINA (This is New Africa) Festival kicks off January 2nd, and will be crowned by a mega concert at the Trade Fair Center, La on January 4th, 2019. The timetable comprises the Nation Builders Day, which takes place in Akosombo, at the educational facility stated in 2007 by Fuse ODG in collaboration with Wood World Mission Charity; the Global Diaspora Conference and Exhibition at the Accra International Conference Center, January 3 –where Ghana’s president, Nana Akuffo Addo, political activist Samia Nkrumah, broadcaster Reggie Yates, actress Ama K. Abebrese, Chaka Bars, and Fuse himself have all been scheduled to talk; and the TINA Musical Festival, scheduled for the Trade Fair Center on January 4 and featuring an array of global stars including Sarkodie, Joey B, Stefflon Don, Lethal Bizzle, and Fuse ODG.

The inaugural TINA Festival is held under the theme “Kente Party,” homage to a key fashion invention that distinguishes the identity of the Ghanaian.

“Fuse’s efforts to spread this message have allowed him to connect with a variety of artists worldwide which have led to him earn the first Grammy Award by a Ghanaian last year. He has invited global superstars such as Ed Sheeran to stay with him in Accra, and gain an experience of Ghana aimed at changing global perceptions.

It is in that same vision that has led to the creation of the TINA Festival,” reads an official statement about the motive of the festival.

“In re-uniting the Global African Diaspora, the Tina Festival will be part of a wider series of events over three days held at Ghana’s most iconic venues, “the statement further reads.

Fuse ODG, the singer, born Nana Richard Abiona, gained global recognition with his 2013 hits “Antenna” and “Azonto”, the TINA frontman has constantly sought to correct various stereotypes about Ghana, and by extension, Africa. His debut album TINA ( This Is New Africa) was released in November 2014 and peaked at number 25 on the UK Albums Chart.

Grammy-recognized, Fuse has also been associated with such global music icons including Damian Marley, Wyclef Jean, Elephant Man, Sarkodie, Sean Paul, Shatta Wale, Ed Sheeran, and Major Lazer.
